The Minneapolis Police Department recorded 791 offenses for the week of January 20-26, 2020, up 4% from the 4-week average of 758 and up 20% from the same week a year earlier (660).
Above their recent range (more than two standard deviations over the prior eight weeks): aggravated assault, 57 against a 4-week average of 41.3.
Wednesday had the most offenses (135). The busiest part of the day was afternoon (noon-6 p.m.) (235).
Theft from motor vehicle, the category that covers car break-ins, was 67 (down 7% from the 4-week average); motor vehicle theft was 94 (up 16%).
